Changing Bid Strategies in an ad campaign
All ad campaigns in Google Ads run ads based on a Bid Strategy in other words. How are you going to pay for the ads that you are going to run? All ad campaigns are placed based on an auction. In which all of the advertisers bid on the placement of the ads.
All ad campaigns have a bid strategy assigned to them. So when you set up an ad campaign, you will need to choose a bid strategy. Whether you want to take a visitor to your website, increase brand awareness, run videos, or brand consideration, you will need to choose a bid strategy.
It is important to point out that your choice of bids will vary depending on what type of campaign or ad extension you are running.

Smart bids focus on conversions, taking most of the guesswork out of the bidding process. Most of the bids are automated using machine learning to optimize the bids. Focusing on conversions for each auction for all of the ads.

Manual CPC bidding: This lets you manage your maximum CPC bids yourself. You can set different bids for each ad group in your campaign, or for individual keywords or placements. If you’ve found that certain keywords or placements are more profitable. You can use manual bidding to allocate more of your advertising budget to those keywords or placements.

Target Impression Share: automatically sets bids with the goal of showing your ad on the absolute top of the page, on the top of the page, or anywhere on the page of Google search results.
MPC: You’ll pay based on the number of impressions (times your ads are shown) that you receive on YouTube or the Google Display Network.
tCPM: A bidding strategy where you set an average for how much you’re willing to pay for every thousand impressions. It optimizes bids to maximize your campaign’s unique reach. With tCPM, you can keep your campaign’s average CPM lower or equal to the target you set (although the cost of impressions may vary).
vCPM: vCPM is a manual bidding strategy, use to increase awareness, but not necessarily generate clicks or traffic. It lets you set the highest amount you want to pay for each 1,000 viewable ad impressions on the Google Display Network.

Changing a Bid Strategy
1. Once a bid strategy has been assigned, it can be changed, first, you will need to choose an ad campaign, go to your list of ad campaigns, and click on the name to visit ad campaign’s dashboard.

2. On the left hand column, go to the setting menu item on the grey bar and click on it to be taken to the settings menu.

Click on the Bids tab
3. At the second to last item in the menu, is the “Bidding” menu, click on the down arrow to view the menu settings.

Choose a new bid strategy.
4. Click on “change bid strategy” to view and change the bid strategy. Each bid strategy may have additional infomration that is required.

5. You will see a drop-down menu called “What do you want to focus on?” Click on the drop-down menu to view the options available. The options that are available for you to chose from will vary depending on the type of ad campaign you are running. Once you have made your choice, click on save to complete the bid change. It may take 24 hours for the bid change to take effect.
