Remarketing – Google Maps Position

Remarketing and Google Maps position
How to Improve Your Position in Google Maps
Google Maps tips

- Create and claim/verify your Google Maps business listing
- Complete every section of your Google My Business dashboard
- Keep your name, address, and [preferably local] phone number consistent
- Properly describe and categorize your business
- Add photos and posts to your listing regularly
- Get (positive) Google reviews
- Consolidate duplicate listings
- Have a responsive website
If your listing takes searchers to a website that requires pinching and zooming, has broken links, or is slow to load, your Google Maps ranking will suffer.
- Target your website for local keywords
Incorporate location-based keywords to the main pages of your site, such as the homepage, about us page, contact us page, products and services page, and even blog posts—and not just to the title of the pages, but also to the headings, body text, image tags, captions, and URLs.
- Embed a Google Map on your website
- Build Backlinks
Focus on a minimum of DA 40+ level backlinks.
- Build niche local business citations
A citation is simply a record of your NAP, which is your business name, address, and phone #, and in some instances your website URL as well.
Google uses citations as a way to validate your business location. Think of citations as the equivalent of backlinks in organic SEO strategy.
The more authoritative and relevant the citation sources are to your business, the more punch that will give you in boosting your Google Maps rankings. Finding websites and directories that are either specific to your metro area or targeted to your specific business category will help increase the relevance factor and improve your overall location authority. The more location authority you have in your business category, the higher you’ll rank in Google Maps.
General Tips & Tricks
-
Keywords
12 search keywords with quality scores of 3 or less. Remove so they don’t affect other keyword’s scores.
Consider “keyword replanting” where you add a campaign for each geo-location with only the best performing keywords so that quality score is improved, then put most of the budget into these campaigns. Keep the current campaigns for testing.
-
Audience
Exclude ages 18 – 24, 25 – 34 and 35 – 44 to improve CTR
Change geo targeting from “People in, or who show interest in, your targeted locations” to “people in or regularly in targeted locations”. -
Landing Pages
Create landing pages specific to the ad copy (bath, sink, bathroom, kitchen etc.) to increase conversions, lower bounce rate and increase quality score.
-
Bids
Something happened to conversion tracking on 10/22. Cost per conversion rates are very high.
A lot of impressions are lost because of the max bid limit. Hopefully an improved quality score will help. Also, improved landing pages that increase tracked conversions could justify a higher max bid.
