Google Ads: Add a new location to a campaign

Google Ad Campaign Settings
Adding a new location to a Search or Display Campaign.
An existing ad campaign can have multiple locations. Google allows you to add a new location to an existing Search or Display ad campaign, local campaign locations are different. You can add a new city, county, zip code, country, or change the location radius to your ad campaign. All you have to do is navigate to an existing ad campaign to begin. You are not adding a location extension, this is something entirely different.
1. After login in, go to the left-hand sidebar to click on the campaign link to go to your list of ad campaigns.
2. Then, click on the desired ad campaign you want to add a new location too.
5. The locations setup wizard will appear, you will see all of your existing locations on the right hand side, and a search bar for the locations on the left hand side. Enter the new location in to the search bar.
6. Google will display a list of locations you can choose from. When you have found the location you want to use click on the “Target” link.
7. After that, you will see the location in the list next to your existing location. If you want to remove it, click on the “X” icon on the right next to the population number.
8. When you are finished, click on the “Save” icon.
Presence or Interest
When a location is added to the campaign, it is can be targeted by visitors who are in the location or are interested in the location. If you live in the location that is being targeted by the ad campaign, you are a presence in the location. But someone who is outside your target locations but is able to still see your ads is a person of interest. Google by default allows both types of visitors to see your ads.
You have three options available to you, you can target the following.
- Presence or interest: People in, regularly in, or who’ve shown interest in your targeted locations (recommended)
- Presence: People in or regularly in your targeted locations
- Search interest: People searching for your targeted locations
If you want you can choose to exclude either people in your location or both people inside and those who are interested.
- Presence: People in your excluded locations (recommended)
- Presence or interest: People in, regularly in, or who’ve shown interest in your excluded locations
Depending on what you want to do, you can choose to choose a different than the default recommended settings. In some cases, you don’t want any except those in the targeted location to see the ads. Then you would choose to target presence instead of both Presence and Interest.

Service Area
When you set up an ad campaign, a service area needs to be considered. An existing NuFinishPro ad campaign will have a predefined service radius. All zip codes and towns need to be in this service area.
The service area should be a maximum of 30 to 35 miles radius from the city center. A smaller city will have a smaller service radius since there are fewer people to serve. The added location’s maximum drive time can’t be more than 2 hours or 120 miles to and from the office.
